If racing is not your cup of tea, Port Stephens also offers some of the best longboard windsurfer cruising that can be found on the East Coast as well as being an ideal family holiday location with great beaches and numerous activities for windsurfers and non windsurfers. So bring the family and check out the beautiful beaches, sample some local wines or go on a whale and dolphin watching cruise. Friday 23 January - Registration from 9 to 11, WOD fleet and J1 freestyle and/or slalom from noon, BBQ at 7pm.
Sat 24 Jan; late registration 9 to 11, J1 sailing from 11, WOD fleet racing from 1pm.   
Sun Jan 25; Junior One  sailing from 10 a.m. WOD fleet from 12 noon, followed by a party at Salamander Shores Hotel.
Mon Jan 26 - Junior One sailing from 10 a.m, WOD fleet from 12 noon, followed by presentation and farewells.

CLASSES & DIVISIONS

Windsurfer One Design Open Fleet -  Race with former Olympians and world champs, and sailors from every state in Oz. No gear problems, just fun. Close, tactical racing. Weight divisions, age divisions and a women’s division to make sailing fair for everyone.  

Windsurfer One Design Silver Fleet - For the less experienced or more casual sailors. Start with the Open, but sail a shorter course if you want to. Other longboards over 3.6m and 16kg may be permitted- contact the organisers for more information*.
 
Windsurfer One Design Classic Fleet - Don’t have a current model One Design? Beg, borrow or buy a  “Classic” Windsurfer with a dacron sail and daggerboard. Race with the main fleet, but have your own class. To keep it cheap, simple and tough boards, we restricted it to Windsurfer Classics and One Designs, TC Runners, TC Spacers, Tyronsea 360 & Falcon, and other boards over 3.5m long, weighing 19kg or more. 

Now there’s no reason not to join.

 
Junior one - Show your kids the fun

Junior One sailing is all about learning and fun for sailors  aged 15 and under,  The kids use Windsurfer One Designs or Classics or similar approved boards* and an approved sail of 4.5m or less, to put the emphasis on skill rather than strength or weight. Restricted coaching is encouraged. There’s a special class and smaller sails for the younger kids. Junior One class sails in the morning, so parents and the best kids can race with the main fleet later in the day.
 
Cruising Class
The cruising class is for those that don’t want to race but would like to come along to just join in the fun and enjoy some great
cruising. While there will be no competition in this class, prizes will be awarded for sailors with great enthusiasm and skill improvement across the long weekend.
 

Where

 Soldiers Point & Salamander Bay, Port Stephens - the perfect combination of regatta site and family holiday destination. The Port is 119 square kilometres of clear water,  fair winds, white sand, dolphins, and sea turtles. It’s 160km from Sydney along fast roads, just 25 minutes from Newcastle Airport, and not far from the famous Hunter Valley wine centre. Check out www.portstephens.org.au for more info.
