Day 02 2009 Raceboard Oceanics
Monday, 26 January 2009 22:09

Byron McIlveen and Russel Jones lead after wild Day 2.
The day started with a light East/Noreast breeze which dropped to 0 knots on our way to the startline.  Racing eventually started after a surging 10 - 30 knot Norwesterly and large waves presented itself. Byron McIllveen displayed his windsurfing prowess by scoring firsts in all 3 races run. Equally impressive were local favourites Russ Jones, Mike Nelson and Alisha Kawalla, and current champion James Grunfelder. In the Silver fleet Damian Candusso has a strong grip on the title, and in the Junior fleet Kaitlyn Middleton scored another bullet to take a virtually unassailable lead. The last race of the day proved to be the most memorable for many Raceboarders. A "Southerly Buster" belted the lake just as half the fleet were finishing which resulted in an intense rescue mission. Gusts up to 45 knots were recorded as the lake turned white with tumbling and blowing water. Apart from the leading sailors in the race all the rest had to be rescue by the brave and skillful rescue crews, or were washed ashore, many battling a large shore break on a rocky shore.
Fortunately there were no major injuries, although some sailing gear was trashed.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
